Elevating Game Day: A Bold Transformation of Texas Tech’s Stadium Club

At Texas Tech Stadium in Lubbock, TX, the Stadium Club’s renovation brought new life to a beloved but dated space, transforming it into a premier destination for alumni and members. Honoring the university’s Spanish Revival architecture with modern detailing, the design team reimagined the club to embody Texas Tech pride while providing a more functional layout to accommodate future growth.

The original space was inefficient and did not meet the client’s seating or branding goals. To maximize capacity and enhance flow, the design team creatively reallocated space from a kitchen corridor and portable buffet area, integrating these areas into a new, open plan with increased seating. The former kitchen pick-up and buffet areas now showcase custom University-branded graphics and banquette seating, creating focal points that reinforce Texas Tech’s rich legacy.

A larger, centrally located bar now serves as the heart of the club, framed by custom murals and University memorabilia that celebrate the school’s sports history. Working closely with Texas Tech’s marketing team and coaching staff, the designers incorporated branded elements and artifacts that resonate with the University’s culture, making the club a place of pride for the highest-level donors. Signature red and black hues, rustic Texas textures, and distinctive accents like tumbleweed and barbed wire-inspired lighting bring an authentic, spirited feel to the club.

The timeline posed a significant challenge, with only three months to complete construction before game day. Amid high material and labor costs, the design team worked tirelessly to prioritize FF&E orders, pivoting to reselections where necessary to stay on schedule and within budget.

The result is a club that not only increases seating by over 40% but also captures the electric atmosphere of game day. Rich textures, natural finishes, and Texas-inspired details invite members to immerse themselves in Texas Tech’s heritage, proudly chanting “Guns Up!” in a space that celebrates their school’s legacy.
